UK to Host G20 Leaders’ Summit in Manchester
The United Kingdom is set to welcome the twenty-second G20 Leaders’ Summit in Manchester next year, gathering key global economic figures to work towards shared objectives and tackle pressing international challenges. Scheduled for the 27th and 28th of November 2027, the summit will see heads of government from G20 member nations convening in the heart of Manchester.
The UK aims to utilise this significant event to bolster global economic stability, a critical factor for workers across the nation. In addition to the main summit, various locations throughout the UK will host related events across the year, ensuring that the G20’s presence extends to communities nationwide. The Government is committed to ensuring that the summit and the year-long presidency yield benefits for all regions of the UK.
Impact of G20 on the UK Economy
The work undertaken by the G20 and its partnerships has a tangible influence on the UK economy. In recent years, G20 nations have facilitated numerous investment projects within the UK, generating hundreds of thousands of new employment opportunities. The last G20 Summit hosted in the UK was in 2009, during which world leaders committed to providing an additional $1.1 trillion to support the global economy through the financial crisis, aiming to restore credit, growth, and job creation.
The G20 comprises 19 of the world’s largest economies, along with the European Union and the African Union. Collectively, they account for approximately 85% of global GDP, 75% of international trade, and two-thirds of the world’s population, making it the principal international forum for coordinating the largest economies worldwide.
Manchester Central Convention Centre as the Venue
The Leaders’ Summit will take place at the Manchester Central Convention Centre, located in the city centre. In addition to world leaders, the summit will attract thousands of diplomats and representatives from various international organisations.

He anticipates that the summit will provide significant opportunities, particularly for the hospitality sector, while also paving the way for future investment, tourism, and job creation as global attention focuses on the city.
