The Employer Recognition Scheme Explained

These accolades are part of the Employer Recognition Scheme, an initiative by the Ministry of Defence designed to formally acknowledge organisations that actively employ and support members of the Armed Forces, as well as veterans and their families. This year, a total of 162 organisations across the UK received the Gold award, reflecting their commitment to this vital cause.

To qualify for the Gold award, employers must meet several criteria, including:

  • Providing a minimum of 10 days’ additional paid leave for Reservists.
  • Implementing human resources policies that support veterans and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.
  • Advocating for Defence within their networks and sectors.
  • Demonstrating a sustained commitment that exceeds the minimum requirements.
