Celebrating a Decade of British Influence in Paraguay
The British Embassy in Asunción is thrilled to unveil the upcoming British Week, commemorating ten remarkable years in Paraguay. Scheduled from Saturday, 15 August to Sunday, 23 August 2026, this special anniversary edition will encompass a diverse array of events that highlight British excellence in food, literature, education, business, music, academia, and culture. The aim is to further elevate the profile of the United Kingdom within Paraguay.
Below, we present the detailed calendar of events for this exciting week, showcasing the various activities that will form part of our extensive programme.
Week-Long Festivities
Throughout the week, attendees can indulge in a variety of British culinary experiences. Urbano Café will offer a traditional Full English Breakfast and the quintessential Afternoon Tea Ritual across all its locations. Additionally, guests can savour scones and British-themed boxes during Tea Time, and enjoy a selection of British-style beers and dishes at Sacramento Brewing Co.
Moreover, Casa Rica Molas López and Los Laureles will host an exhibition featuring British cars, motorbikes, and a tribute to Sir David Attenborough. Participants can also complete their “Fish and Chips Passport” at designated locations for a chance to partake in a special raffle at the week’s conclusion. The British foodie experience will be available at El Dorado, Sacramento Brewing Co., Puerto Pira, Aurelia Brew Pub, and Casa Rica, with more raffles and prizes to be announced via the Embassy’s social media accounts on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).

Saturday, 15 August
11:30 hrs: Join us for a presentation titled “Women, Corsairs, Friars, and Guarani Leaders: Unknown Stories of the British Isles to Paraguay in the 16th Century” by Dr. Guillaume Candela from Cardiff University. Venue details will be provided upon registration. This event is free of charge, but prior sign-up is necessary.
15:30 hrs: Experience a Celebration of British Music at Feria Palmear (Palma esquina Chile, in front of the Pantheon of the Heroes). This event is open to all and free of charge.
Sunday, 16 August
09:00 – 15:00 hrs: Enjoy a British Brunch at Palmaroga (Palma 853, entre Ayolas y Montevideo). This event is open access but has limited capacity, so reservations are recommended at 0982571541. It will also feature the “Fishaport” event.
Monday, 17 August
11:00 hrs: Attend a live cooking session on how to prepare Fish & Chips with Chef Jorge Iriberri at Casa Rica Molas López (Av. Dr. Felipe Molas López esquina Jasy). Open to all and free of charge, this is part of the “Fishaport” initiative.
17:00 hrs: Participate in a reading session featuring the beloved Paddington Bear at BOOKS (located in Mariscal López Shopping – Bloc A: Quesada and Malutín). This event is free, but places are limited.
18:30 hrs: Discover The Chevening Experience at Aula 1 del Instituto del Banco Central del Paraguay (Av. Federación Rusa y Augusto Roa Bastos, Portón 5B). Free of charge, prior registration is required.
