Mexico has made history by becoming the first country in Latin America to welcome Muse, the personal artificial intelligence (AI) agent developed by Meta. This innovative tool is designed to perform tasks, manage projects, and address user needs, all while being available to answer questions at any time and from any location.
Muse was unveiled and launched as a standalone application in the United States in early September, accessible in both mobile and web versions. The development team at Meta explains that, unlike conventional assistants, Muse operates on the user’s objectives even when the app is not actively in use. It translates long-term plans into tangible actions and learns from ongoing conversations. Additionally, users have the ability to name the agent, customise its appearance, select its personality, and define their interaction style.
Key Features of Muse
One of the standout features of Muse is its capability to connect with third-party applications and services, allowing for task resolution within a single conversation. This means that the agent can integrate with tools such as Instagram, Gmail, and Google Calendar to assist in managing emails, organising schedules, and utilising saved content to complete everyday tasks, as stated by the company.
In Mexico, Muse can also interact with the digital properties of well-known brands, including Cinépolis, Coppel, Despegar, Kavak, Kueski, Liverpool, Rappi, and Walmart. This integration enables users to complete tasks, seek information, organise travel plans, or arrange purchases. Meta specifies that these functionalities will be enabled gradually, meaning that some experiences may become available after the initial launch.
Accessing Muse in Mexico
Users can also communicate with Muse through WhatsApp. While access to the system is free, there are subscription plans available that offer a wider range of features.
To start using Muse through any of these channels, users must log in with a Meta account or with Instagram or Facebook credentials. For those without these profiles, access is available by providing a phone number or email address.
User Interaction and Interface
The interface of Muse shares similarities with conversational chatbots. The left sidebar presents options for initiating conversations, searching for information, setting goals, reviewing content or files created by the agent, and accessing projects suggested by the AI.
Users can send queries or instructions via text messages or voice dictation. They also have the option to share files stored on their devices. Although Muse cannot respond in real-time with audio, it can send voice notes in reply to inquiries.
Advice for Optimal Use
Meta acknowledges that Muse may occasionally make errors and recommends users verify the results and activities performed by the agent. To achieve more accurate and useful responses, it is advised to provide clear instructions and relevant context, as well as to establish explicit boundaries regarding the actions the agent is permitted to undertake and the sources it is authorised to consult.
