Government Digital Employment Resources Empower Thousands to Secure Their Next Career Move

Digital Transformation in Employment Support

In recent months, the Government’s innovative approach to employment has gained significant traction, with approximately 20,000 individuals utilising the Work Hub’s CV builder since its launch in June. This initiative is part of a broader government strategy to leverage technology, enhance opportunities, and stimulate economic growth across all regions.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has introduced a suite of digital employment support tools, designed to assist jobseekers in crafting CVs, preparing for interviews, and making the transition into the workforce. The Work Hub aims to deliver employment assistance directly to users’ devices, ensuring that support is accessible anytime and anywhere via smartphones, tablets, or computers.

A Comprehensive Solution for Jobseekers

Described as a “jobcentre in your pocket”, the Work Hub serves as a universal service aimed at helping individuals secure and thrive in employment. This complimentary digital platform provides practical resources for creating CVs tailored for online recruitment systems, as well as tools for job searching, application processes, interview preparation, and the identification of training opportunities.

Since its inception, the CV builder feature has seen considerable engagement, with around 20,000 users transforming their skills and experiences into professionally crafted CVs. Furthermore, approximately 16,000 individuals have benefited from the platform’s AI Work Assistant, which offers personalised advice on job searches, applications, interview readiness, and career growth.

Modernising Public Services for Greater Accessibility

The uptake of these tools highlights the Government’s commitment to modernising public services and utilising technology to dismantle barriers to employment. By providing practical support, the initiative aims to elevate living standards and stimulate growth across all areas of the country.

This announcement aligns with the Government’s broader objectives to enhance opportunities and address economic inactivity. Central to this effort is a £2.5 billion investment package designed to create nearly one million work and training opportunities for young people.

Innovative Tools for a Changing Job Market

Lilian Greenwood MP, Minister for Innovation, Fraud and Data, expressed enthusiasm for the Work Hub, noting its adaptability to the evolving landscape of employment. In just a few months, the CV tools have empowered many individuals to effectively showcase their skills and take essential steps towards securing employment.

Greenwood encouraged jobseekers who have yet to explore the platform to take advantage of the resources available, emphasising the importance of ensuring that no one is left behind in this digital age.

Complementing Traditional Support Systems

The Work Hub operates in conjunction with the DWP’s wider programme to modernise services. While Work Coaches continue to provide tailored, face-to-face support at Jobcentres, the digital tools offer an additional avenue for individuals to access guidance and information.

Lance, a Work Coach from Bognor Regis, shared his positive experiences with the AI Work Assistant, particularly in supporting young jobseekers. He noted that the tool facilitates discussions around career aspirations, skill development, and job searching, helping to empower those who may lack confidence in their job search.

Real-World Success Stories

The Work Hub is proving effective in helping jobseekers overcome practical obstacles in their employment journey. For instance, Hugh, a jobseeker with extensive experience, struggled to attract responses from employers due to an outdated CV format. After receiving guidance from a DWP consultant and using the Work Hub’s CV Builder, Hugh experienced a significant uptick in responses and ultimately secured a job.

Hugh remarked on the transformative impact of the CV builder, stating that it enabled him to better articulate his skills and experiences, thereby enhancing his job prospects after numerous unsuccessful attempts.

Supporting Employers in the Recruitment Process

The Work Hub also provides valuable resources for employers, featuring a platform to advertise job vacancies, access recruitment advice, and connect with local talent pools. This service is designed to assist businesses in sourcing the talent necessary for growth and sustainability.

Shazia Ejaz, Director of Campaigns at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), endorsed the integration of technology in hiring processes, advocating for a job market that is accessible to a diverse range of candidates. She emphasised the necessity of ongoing innovation to maintain a robust talent pipeline, especially given current labour shortages.

Accessible Resources for All Jobseekers

The Work Hub’s ‘Build a CV’ tool is available to everyone, irrespective of whether they are DWP customers. Initially launched as a pilot in June 2026, it continues to evolve based on user feedback and performance metrics. Important safeguards are in place to ensure the appropriateness of AI-generated responses, keeping the focus firmly on employment support.

It is essential to note that the Work Hub does not replace traditional career support offered at Jobcentres, and existing requirements for those in the Intensive Work Search group for Universal Credit remain unchanged.
