Sanctions and Economic Pressure on Iran
Since assuming office, the Government has implemented more than 240 sanctions targeting Iran, responding to actions that pose a threat to our citizens and national security. Our commitment to collaborating with the United States and other allies remains strong, as we strive to exert economic pressure on Iran. This coordinated approach aims to prevent the Iranian regime from exploiting the global economy and manipulating the UK financial system to further its nuclear ambitions and other destabilising activities.
We express our support for the diplomatic efforts led by the US to achieve a peaceful resolution to these ongoing tensions. In particular, we appreciate initiatives such as Operation Economic Outcast, which seeks to enhance economic pressure on Iran. Our collaboration with international partners will remain steadfast as we take the necessary measures to safeguard our national interests, including actions aimed at ensuring the safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz and countering Iran’s perilous undertakings.

We urge Iran to halt its destabilising activities throughout the region, particularly those taking place in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. It is imperative for Iran to engage in diplomatic talks with sincerity and a genuine commitment to resolving the underlying issues at hand.
