Louise Cantillon has recently taken up her position at the British High Commission, following a commendable career within the UK Government. Her most recent role was as the British Consul General in Sydney, where she also served as the Deputy Trade Commissioner for the Asia Pacific region, covering Australia and New Zealand.
Priorities for Trade and Investment
In her new capacity as High Commissioner, Cantillon will concentrate on enhancing trade and investment relations between the United Kingdom and New Zealand. Free Trade Agreement Overview
The UK-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA), a significant accord signed on 28 February 2022, officially came into effect on 31 May 2023. This landmark agreement is designed to foster economic growth, reinforce trade and investment links, and provide tariff-free access to various markets, thereby benefiting both nations.
