Secretary of State’s Inaugural Visit to Dublin
The Right Honourable Sir Chris Bryant, the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, is making his inaugural trip to the Republic of Ireland today, Monday 24 August. This visit marks a significant moment in his tenure, aimed at reinforcing the ties between the UK and Ireland.
During his time in Dublin, Sir Chris is scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions with key figures, including Helen McEntee TD, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Jim O’Callaghan TD, the Minister for Justice. The agenda will focus on mutual priorities such as fostering economic growth, enhancing joint security efforts, and addressing commitments related to the legacy of the past.
Engagements with Business Leaders
In addition to governmental discussions, the Secretary of State will participate in a roundtable meeting with prominent business leaders from both the UK and Ireland. This forum aims to identify and unlock Northern Ireland’s economic potential, promote cross-border trade, and encourage further investment in the region.
