Steve Willington, Chief Forecaster at the Met Office, commented on the situation: “As we transition into Wednesday, the risk of heavy rain and thunderstorms is increasing, with warm and humid air acting as a catalyst for intense showers. Some locations may experience significant rainfall in a short timeframe, leading to the possibility of localised flooding, travel disruptions, and frequent lightning.”
Willington further noted, “On Thursday, the slow-moving heavy and thundery rain could result in extended periods of rainfall in some regions, amplifying the risk of localised impacts. There is still some uncertainty regarding the exact locations of the heaviest rain, so it is crucial to stay informed with the latest forecasts and warnings.”
