Pilates has become a regular part of life across Greater Manchester, with studios in towns such as Leigh, Whitefield and Failsworth as well as in the city itself, offering mat classes, Reformer sessions and one-to-one teaching. Many people choose a smaller studio for the personal attention it can give: instructors who know their clients, correct their technique and adapt each class to different levels and goals.
This selection presents three Pilates studios in Greater Manchester: Elleve Pilates Studio in Leigh, Whitefield Reformer Pilates and Real Reformer Studio. Each has its own space, its own timetable and its own way of teaching, so that anyone looking to start Pilates, or to find a new studio, can compare different options.

Elleve Pilates Studio
Elleve Pilates Studio is a Reformer Pilates studio on Railway Road in Leigh town centre, Greater Manchester, offering small, expert-led Reformer and Mat Pilates classes. Its classes are built around strength, control and breath, for every body and at every stage.
The studio is owned and run by Alex, a Level 3 Mat and Reformer Pilates instructor. After attending classes for around a year, she completed her Level 3 qualification in Mat and Reformer Pilates and began teaching alongside her full-time corporate job. After a year of teaching part-time, she left the corporate world to pursue Pilates full-time.
Alex’s teaching style blends contemporary and classical Pilates into balanced, full-body workouts that are challenging yet accessible, with a focus on thoughtful movement, strong technique and mindful control. Her sessions concentrate on building strength, improving mobility and helping clients feel more connected to their bodies. The instructor team also includes Anita, who holds the same Level 3 Mat and Reformer qualification.
Small classes are central to the way Elleve works. The studio has five premium Reformer beds and its Reformer classes are capped at five people, giving instructors the time to offer attention and hands-on corrections, with form and breath corrected in real time.
Every class is scaled to where each person is, from a first Reformer session to a heavier, strength-focused format, and all levels are welcome. The weekly timetable includes All Levels Pilates and Beginner Pilates classes, as well as all-levels sessions focused on the upper body or the lower body, and places can be booked online.
The studio’s town-centre location means a class can be combined with a coffee, a bite to eat or a browse around the local shops beforehand or afterwards. Beyond the timetable, Elleve sets out to build a studio community, a place people are glad to walk into and return to.

Whitefield Reformer Pilates
Whitefield Reformer Pilates is a Reformer Pilates studio at 143a Bury New Road in Whitefield, Manchester. Established in 2019, it offers expert, hands-on teaching to small groups, semi-private sessions and one-to-one sessions for clients of all abilities, including beginners. The studio is owned and managed by Stacey Lennard, an experienced Reformer Pilates instructor who looks after the quality of every class and the safety of every client, whether a beginner or an experienced Reformer user.
Stacey has practised Pilates and Reformer Pilates for over ten years. After completing her Spine Safe Pilates Mat Training and teaching Pilates at several studios and leisure clubs across Manchester, she qualified to teach Reformer Pilates in 2017. Her classes follow the main principles of Pilates and add a fun factor, so that sessions are dynamic, challenging and functional while staying safe and effective.
Reformer Pilates takes mat-based Pilates a step further by introducing the Reformer, a piece of equipment powered by springs and straps. The springs add resistance and variety to traditional exercises, challenging the muscles while building flexibility and core strength. Group classes are limited to a maximum of five people. They are mixed-ability sessions focused on posture, alignment and core strengthening, with modifications offered to beginners and extra challenges for more advanced clients. Semi-private sessions for two people and private one-to-one sessions give clients the chance to learn about the equipment, work on specific goals and build confidence, and the studio also recommends them for rehabilitation after an injury.
The timetable runs from Monday to Saturday, with classes from 6.30am on Tuesdays, evening classes at 7.30pm from Monday to Thursday and Saturday classes from 9am. The classes are shared with a small team of instructors, selected by the owner, who are qualified to modify each session to suit every level of experience. Clients book online, bookings are subject to a 16-hour cancellation policy, and the entrance and parking are at the rear of the studio.

Real Reformer Studio
Real Reformer Studio is a Reformer Pilates studio at 674 Oldham Road in Failsworth, Manchester, built around small-group classes capped at six people. Its approach is movement-led rather than trend-led: sessions are rooted in proper reformer technique, alignment and functional strength, and instructors correct each client’s form individually instead of leaving them to follow along at the back of the room.
The studio is inclusive and injury-aware, welcoming complete beginners as well as clients who want more strength, tone or mobility. Its programming is designed to progress people steadily rather than simply making sessions harder, and instructors adapt each session to the client’s level from the very first class. Classes offer personalised, expert-led coaching, with hands-on correction rather than a crowd to get lost in.
New clients are introduced to the reformer machine and shown the basics: how to get on and off it safely, how the springs and straps work and the core positions used throughout the class. Because the classes are small, each client receives attention throughout the session. The result is a low-impact, full-body workout that is still challenging, and every exercise can be made easier or harder by adjusting the springs.
Practical details are spelled out for first-timers. Clients wear comfortable, fitted clothing and grip socks, which are required to take part in a class, and are asked to arrive a few minutes early for their first session. There is parking directly in front of the studio. Memberships run for three, six or twelve months, once or twice a week, and class packs of four, ten or twenty classes are available without a membership. Classes can be booked through the live online timetable, or by messaging the studio on WhatsApp, Instagram or email, and cancellations should be made at least 24 hours before the class starts.
