Last Chance to Share Your Memories for the Queen Elizabeth Digital Memorial

Reflections from Sir Richard Branson on Queen Elizabeth II

Sir Richard Branson has recently shared his cherished memories of the late Queen Elizabeth II, coinciding with the impending deadline for public submissions to honour her legacy. This initiative, which commenced on 21 April 2026, is part of a broader effort to commemorate the centenary of her birth. A multitude of individuals, including notable personalities, have already contributed their personal anecdotes regarding the Queen.

The Cabinet Office is actively encouraging the public to submit their memories before the submission portal closes on 31 October. Whether you sang for the Queen in a choir, encountered her during a public engagement in your locality, or celebrated one of her jubilees with your community, your stories are valuable and sought after.

A Digital Tribute to a Remarkable Reign

The Queen Elizabeth Digital Memorial is an innovative platform designed to collate memories from the public, alongside archival materials from various international collections. It aims to produce the first comprehensive official account of the Queen’s extraordinary 70-year reign, mapping significant events both geographically and chronologically.

Once the public submission phase concludes, the Queen Elizabeth Digital Memorial will persist in celebrating her life and reign. The website plans to collaborate with new archives and international partners over the next few years, integrating freshly digitised content to create a richer and more thorough narrative of Queen Elizabeth’s life and legacy.

Future Endeavours in Commemoration

The Digital Memorial is one of three recommendations put forth by the Queen Elizabeth Memorial Committee and has been embraced by HM Government. The other initiatives include a masterplan for a permanent memorial in St James’s Park, London, and the establishment of The Queen Elizabeth Trust, a charitable organisation aimed at revitalising community assets throughout the United Kingdom.
