New Leadership for British Steel
The Business Secretary, Jonathan Reynolds, has announced the appointment of Alan Lovell as the new Chair of British Steel. Alan Lovell brings a wealth of expertise to the role, boasting a robust background in executive and non-executive leadership across diverse sectors, including infrastructure, construction, energy, and financial services. In his previous executive roles, Lovell has served as Chief Executive Officer for six different companies, such as Infinis, Tamar Energy, and Costain Group plc. His extensive experience is complemented by various senior non-executive positions, including his tenure as Chair of Interserve Group and roles with Lloyd’s of London, SIG, and the Consumer Council for Water.
Commitment to British Industry
Currently, Lovell holds the position of Chair at the Environment Agency, a role he has maintained since September 2022, and is expected to conclude his term in December 2026. His appointment as Chair of British Steel signifies an important step in the company’s journey towards revitalisation.
