Increased Risk of Meningococcal Disease Among Young Adults
Younger adults, particularly those enrolled in universities, are facing a heightened risk of meningococcal meningitis and septicaemia. Recent data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has revealed that Meningitis B (MenB) was responsible for an astounding 97% of invasive meningococcal disease cases in individuals aged 15 to 24 in England during the period of 2025 to 2026, accounting for 93 out of 96 confirmed cases.

The MenACWY vaccine is routinely offered to teenagers as part of the school immunisation programme, and all teenagers remain eligible for MenACWY vaccination until their 25th birthday.
