The demand for AI-generated erotic content is witnessing a remarkable surge; however, the visual quality often leaves much to be desired. This shortcoming is also prevalent in supplementary applications, where adult film actors and actresses sell their images to provide around-the-clock content to their followers. This phenomenon has recently caught the attention of industry observers.

However, Rogue Studio is governed by strict rules and guidelines. For instance, if you wish to conceptualise a twisted short film blending horror and science fiction, you might begin by designing a zombie character using Midjourney, followed by employing Rogue’s AI tools to add uncensored features in high definition.
According to their terms of service, Rogue prohibits the use of user-generated images or videos for model training and strictly forbids the creation or distribution of non-consensual deepfakes, child sexual abuse material, unauthorised portrayals of public figures, and other illegal or abusive images.
Robust Moderation to Ensure Compliance
To prevent misuse of the platform for creating prohibited content, Rogue employs three tiers of human moderation. The first occurs at the prompt level, where keywords are monitored and flagged for potential account suspension if illegal intent is detected. The next layer operates within the system, referred to as the “intention layer.” Here, moderators review prompts to judge user intent, particularly if users attempt to bypass restrictions by slightly misspelling a real actor’s name for deepfake generation. The final layer assesses the created image or video before it is shared with the user. For example, if a user inputs “famous blonde singer” and the generated image resembles Taylor Swift, that creation will not be sent out.
The Founders’ Caution in a Changing Landscape
Mr. Rogue explains that he and his co-founder, both established filmmakers, have opted to remain anonymous due to the “real risks” associated with being linked to erotic content creation. “Given the current climate in Hollywood and our work in AI, one has to be very cautious,” he indicates. Their credentials have been verified, revealing a substantial Hollywood background with box office revenues exceeding $2 billion.
The recent 2023 Hollywood strikes, during which unions advocated for protections against the unauthorised digital reproduction of actors’ likenesses, have prompted major studios to explore ways to integrate AI into their productions to reduce costs. This tension has contributed to a negative perception of AI, creating a stigma around its use. The founders of Rogue are aware of this sentiment but remain committed to harnessing the creative potential of the technology.
AI’s Role in Shaping the Future of Filmmaking
The reality is that AI is no longer a distant possibility for Hollywood. Computers are already working behind the scenes to animate pre-production storyboards and streamline editing processes, including visual effects refinement and audio enhancement. Recently, Netflix disclosed that 300 of its series leverage generative AI. The integration is happening at a larger scale than many viewers may realise, as noted by industry expert Matt Belloni.
Since 2000, the incidence of sex scenes in films has decreased by 40%, according to a 2023 study. However, recent releases suggest that the industry may be making a comeback in this regard. “Films are becoming provocative again,” commented a film critic specialising in erotic thrillers. A recent survey revealed that, despite widespread backlash against AI in Hollywood, one-third of consumers are now indifferent to its use in production across various domains, barring script and performance aspects.
Rogue is optimistic that the continued adoption of AI tools, particularly those focused on delivering high-quality visual effects, could significantly enhance the viewer experience, to the extent that the quality of an actor’s performance is not dictated by whether it is AI-generated or not, according to the co-founder. “We are so accustomed to equating lack of censorship with diminished quality. Right now, much of the artistic essence is being lost,” he concludes.
